I STARTED OVER! – 1052 words

First Line of the Day: “I never had a dad.”

Last Line of the Day: “‘I know,’ I said, and we left.”

Ok, so today was weird. I decided to start from the beginning. It’s not a different story or anything, I just know it better now and saw a better way to tell it. It’s better to start again now, I figure. Maybe not. Who knows?

Anyway, it’s what I did. I’m feeling really good about it too. So take that, self esteem issues!

Day 4 – 1524 Words

First Line of the Day: “‘Some of you are confused,’ she continued.”

Last Line of the Day: “Several mounties moved up to the platform and started sectioning off the crowd.”

Squeezing out like 200 words a day isn’t going to cut it. This is unacceptable. (I’m not mad at you people, I’m mad at me. Don’t worry).

In happier news, I’m starting to figure out how I want to structure this thing. Not 100% just yet (CAN YOU FEEL THE OPTIMISM) but starting to get it rolling. I’m heading home today and will have more time to focus. Can’t wait.

I think I’m going to eat pasta today. The crave is real in me right now.

UPDATE: Pasta is delicious.

Day 3 – 1370 Words

First Line of the Day: “A woman stepped up onto the platform.”

Last Line of the Day: “Poor little fuckers, clapping for something like that.”

I got up early to get some writing in. Hopefully I’ll get more done throughout the day. I should treat this more like a job, I’ve decided. Sounds obvious, but it’s a solid mental step for me to take. I also realized I’ve only introduced my main protagonist so far, but that’s probably no biggie. I’ll go with my gut for now and change stuff like that later if it reads weird.

I know basically where the story is going, but I flirted with doing an outline. I don’t think so, though. I’m having fun writing it, and don’t want to kill that. If it’s shit, I’ll deal with that later too.

(Full disclosure, I forgot to post this until the morning of Day 4. Oops.)

Day 2 – 1182 Words

First Line of the Day: “The sun had come up when they pulled the bag off my head.”

Last Line of the Day: “I wondered if they even moved her out of there after they took me.”

I’m traveling today so I didn’t get the writing time I would like. Still managed a few hundred words. I’ll have to pick it up moving forward, but this weekend is packed.

Fun fact: I’m basing a lot of my main protagonist on myself (no big surprise), but so far he’s only demonstrated my inherent cynicism and filthy language. So that’s cool. I apparently value those 2 things above all my other qualities.

I’ll have a bunch of time next week, and I’ll get myself on a schedule. Probably.

More soon.

Day 1 – 840 Words

First Line of the Day: “Chester County was dead.”

Last Line of the Day: “After that, they gave me my very own black sack and drug me out of the house.”

I’m starting a novel today. I doubt anyone will ever read it and I might as well be making toothbrushes or something, but I’m doing it.

What I know so far:

– I’m writing a novel.

– I don’t know anything.
